In reading 1 Samuel 1 there is a woman who is bummed about being barren. She seems to have everything a woman of this time could possibly have or want except a baby. She enters into the tabernacle - the presence of God - and prays. As the story goes Hannah was able to conceive and have a son. I am always amazed at how God, through out history, with His people will begin with nothing. God's tendency is to make our total inability His starting point. Our hopelessness and helplessness are no barrier to His work. Our utter incapacity is the prop He seems to delight in most to use in His next act. In my own life when I am without strength, resources, hope, and without human gimmicks - then He loves to stretch forth His hand from heaven. Once we see where God begins we will understand how we can be encouraged.

This is so happening with us right now. We don't know if we can keep our house. We barely make half of what we made a year ago on a extremely good month now. We can't pay our full morgage payment and haven't for the last nine months and yet in our nothing God has been everything. He gave us a camper and not just any camper it is better than any camper we have ever owned before.
We had to sell our car and only have one vehicle and God provided us with a little car a freind was trying to sell. Then when it sold we were loaned another one for the entire winter! About a month after that we were given a car and again not just a car but a car that has less than a hundred thousand miles on it. Runs great.
This last summer and fall God has placed people in our lives that have given us so much food. I have only needed to go to the store for the basics of milk and such.
God is our provider and it has been wonderful to have a amazing peace in that.
